Today the Partnership for New York City announced the 2022 class of David Rockefeller Fellows, an immersive one-year program where private sector executives learn about the city and state and build civic leadership skills. This class includes 42 business leaders from diverse industries, including finance, professional services, real estate, retail and transportation.
The program focuses on the most pressing challenges facing New York, including public safety, workforce development and education. They will meet with elected officials, members of the media, and leaders of government agencies and nonprofit organizations, such as the New York City Police Department, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the NYC Department of Education.
Since the program was established in 1988, nearly 500 executives have participated. Upon completion, the new class will join an elite group of program alumni, many of whom have gone on to become the CEO of their company or take positions in public service. Examples include two federal judges, a First Deputy Comptroller of NYC, the CEO of NYCHA, and CEOs or presidents of companies such as Mastercard, Blackstone, Silver Lake, Con Edison, National Grid, and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
“This program gives business leaders who are committed to New York City a first-hand look at how decisions are made and complex operations like the MTA, Con Edison and the NYPD are managed,” said Kathryn Wylde, president and CEO of the Partnership for New York City. “Our objective is to help business leaders become more knowledgeable and engaged citizens of the city.”
“I want to extend my congratulations to all 42 new fellows. As an alum, I know firsthand how valuable this program is and what this opportunity means. It’s important as a business leader to know the social and governmental issues going on around you and to meet the key players and organizations that can help inform you and expand your horizons. The Fellows Program is invaluable in doing just that,” said Eric Eve, founder and CEO of Ichor Strategies, and member of the Class of 2009.
