“National investment in modernizing our country’s infrastructure is long overdue,” said Kathryn Wylde, President and CEO of the Partnership for New York City. “The legislation being signed into law today will help fortify New York’s public transportation system, expand broadband access and improve our competitive position in attracting talent and building our economy. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer and New York’s congressional delegation played a leading role in achieving this breakthrough legislation, which we hope signals continued bipartisan collaboration on dealing with the challenges that we will face as the country emerges from the pandemic. We encourage the government to leverage public investment by tapping into the expertise and financial resources of private sector partners in the implementation of the program.”
In July, over 140 New York business leaders issued a letter to Congress urging them to adopt this program to help accelerate recovery from losses the pandemic.
