Partnership for New York City Statement on July 15 Meeting with Zohran Mamdani
July 15, 2025
This afternoon, approximately 150 business leaders engaged in a substantive discussion with the Democratic nominee for Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, about his vision for the city, and were offered the opportunity to share their concerns and ask questions of the candidate. Partnership for New York City co-chairs Rob Speyer and Albert Bourla asked Mr. Mamdani about his policies and plans to address housing, public safety, corporate and individual taxes, and childcare for New Yorkers, as well as the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine. Audience members specifically inquired about retail theft, support for CUNY and the bright young New Yorkers it supports, and partnership with the private sector across multiple areas relating to quality of life. A question was also asked about the quality of public schools, and Mr. Mamdani’s plans to improve them so that New Yorkers do not feel they must move away to secure a high-quality public education for their children. Mr. Mamdani invited continued discussion with attendees.
