The Partnership for New York City, Tech:NYC, and AlleyCorp co-hosted a lively, productive 90-minute discussion this afternoon between Democratic nominee for Mayor Zohran Mamdani and approximately 150 entrepreneurial leaders from tech and other sectors including the presidents of the five borough chambers of commerce. Kevin Ryan, AlleyCorp CEO and Vice Chair of the Partnership for New York City, led a Q&A addressing the power and potential for tech, including AI, to make city government more efficient; the importance of tech to the city economy; the candidate's management experience; and tax policy, housing; public safety, and affordability in New York.Subsequent questions from the audience touched on the city's relationship with the federal government; the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine; education, especially as it relates to charter schools; and federal immigration policy, which the candidate identified as a harm to economic development, a concern shared by many in attendance. Mr. Mamdani invited further dialogue with attendees in the future.
